Just Answer the Question Claire

Again, she asks the question she so obviously knows the answer to.

"The fair question is, if you can't win the states we have to win in the fall, maybe that says something about your general-election appeal," she says.

Will some reporter do their job and get Hillary to answer her own question. The language she is using is clearly sending a message to those yet undecided voters that Obama can't win in the general election because he's black. Would someone please get her to state it. It's not the year of the hanging chad - it's the year of the hanging question. Feels more like a lynching. Somebody call her on it. Please.

From One Old Gray Lady to Another

Nice turnaround today from the New York Times. Not too many endorsements rescinded that I'm aware of. But they sum it up nicely. (Thanks for the link CD)

Because He's Black, Stupid

That's the answer to Mrs. Clinton's racist question:

"Still, the voting patterns on Tuesday underlined what has been one of Mrs. Clinton’s central arguments to Democratic Party leaders in asserting that Mr. Obama would have trouble as a general election candidate. Once again, as in Ohio six weeks ago, he is struggling to win support from the kinds of voters that could be critical to a Democratic victory in the fall. Mrs. Clinton posed the question bluntly on Tuesday.

"Considering his financial advantage, the question ought to be, why can’t he close the deal?” Mrs. Clinton said outside a polling place in a northern suburb of Philadelphia. “Why can’t he win in a state like this?”

And what really makes me outraged? She knows the answer. Lawyers never ask a question they don't already know the answer to - at least that's what my dad's always taught me.

I take the PA numbers personally - it says to me we're doomed to the same shit, different year. And I wish I could blame Billary for it. But the fault lies with the voters. I've been told I should give her credit for being a formidable candidate - I won't. it's been my fear all along. We've had soccer moms, NASCAR dads - this year we have the Northeast Bigots - who will vote for anyone before they'd vote for a black man. And it really sucks.

"The results of the exit poll, conducted at 40 precincts across Pennsylvania by Edison/Mitofsky for the television networks and The Associated Press, also found stark evidence that Mr. Obama’s race could be a problem in the general election. Sixteen percent of white voters said race mattered in deciding who they voted for, and just 56 percent of those voters said they would support Mr. Obama in a general election; 27 percent of them said they would vote for Mr. McCain if Mr. Obama was the Democratic nominee, and 15 percent said they would not vote at all."

Bottomless Pit

Boy oh boy Obama has to win Pennsylvania. Every time I think Hillary Clinton can't be a bigger hypocrite than she is, I'm once again proven wrong. This time it's her take on MoveOn. Talk about elitist.

And seriously. Hillary needs to tell Bill he's not helping. His "if you don't want to play, keep the uniform off" is a perfect example of why the Clintons should not be allowed to occupy the White House again. This isn't a game to Obama. Let the Clinton's keep playing somewhere else.

What's Up With That?

I don't know what's creepier. The pope's eyes...or all those adoring young boys (and girls too) in New York today.

Here's the Beef

I couldn't watch the debate - but am enjoying the coverage of The Debate About The Debate. Apparently there's a lot of outrage to go around. They call it the silly season for a reason.

As soon as I heard Stephanapolous was moderating, I knew I wouldn't watch. But I can't stand the ABC News spin that Obama's the front runner. He isn't. The issue is there is no front runner. Hillary's been ahead in all polls in PA. The undecided superdelegates could easily put her ahead in the vote count. So how do they use that as a justification for allowing a former Clinton White House strategist and staffer to "moderate." It's baffling.

Reality Check

Just when I think the the pharmaceutical industry can't sink any lower, it somehow finds a way. What's next? Bogus press conferences? Oh wait - already happened. What about fake news reports produced by the government or PR firms? Damn - seen that too. Never mind. Why should the pharmaceutical industry be held to a higher standard?

To Tell the Truth

Seriously. There is nothing worse than "fake outrage." At least for me. There's so much of the real stuff to focus on.

The Truth Hurts

I was in Pennsylvania this weekend when the kerfluffle started and the carefully calibrated outrage began.

Lord help us if the fate of this country is to be determined by the state of Pennsylvania. And the totally outrageous word-twisting of the Clinton campaign.

Who Did the Math?

This reeks to high heaven. I'm all for the government helping people when they need a hand, a stepping stone to a better life if you will. But this freaking foreclosure bailout isn't about a helping hand. It's about helping people who either didn't do the proper due diligence, couldn't face reality, were too greedy or tried to get something for nothing. And of course, it's an outrage.

I want federal assistance for those who didn't take advantage, who knew what their limits were, who understand that you don't get something for nothing. Now that would be worth contributing to. Instead, my tax dollars are going to bail out people who don't deserve to be bailed out.

Hitting the Homestretch

Heading to Pennsylvania next week for a few days to campaign for Obama. Will try to win over some of Clinton's supporters - though I don't expect I'd be as persuasive as Obama himself.
